FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (For Singapore Only)
Thunder Asia Makes The Switch To Mosler For Super GT SepangSingapore, May 28, 2009 - The Thunder Asia Racing team made another revelation after announcing its participation at the 2009 Super GT round at Sepang, by announcing that the team would compete with the factory-backed Mosler MT900R race car in the GT300 Class instead of the Toyota Celica previously indicated. The team also confirmed that its Singaporean racing driver Melvin Choo would be partnered with experienced endurance racer Martin Short for the Sepang round on June 21, 2009. With this confirmation, the team would now be officially known as "Thunder Asia Mosler Racing". No stranger to the Sepang Circuit, Short has had his fair share of success with the TVR Team back in 2001 in a consultative role, during the Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) race. Under his guidance, the TVR Team took the overall win that year in the grueling 12-hour race. Short is also an accomplished race car driver with his career in motor racing spanning from 1987 till today. Currently a works driver with Mosler, 50 year-old Short has had successes with the Dutch Supercar Champion title in 2008, wins in the British GT Series, Class winner in the Zolder Belcar race, third in the 24-hour Daytona race, amongst others. "Our team is cohesively bullish about getting into the Super GT. Melvin is also delighted with the factory backing from Mosler Automotive and with Martin Short coming on board," says Raja Zaini, Team Manager, Thunder Asia Mosler Racing, who believes that with the full backing from Mosler the team is even more committed for the Super GT and perhaps other endurance races in the long term. "With the Mosler MT900R we can handle more races. We have a great deal of confidence about the car's performance as it is a full works preparation car with the technical support from the factory." The Mosler MT900R race car is made by Mosler Automotive, one of the world's top performance sports car manufacturers. For their race version, the company employs the base MT900 that already has state-of-the-art materials and technologies, and builds on that foundation for total performance far beyond some more expensive sports cars. Working closely with many international racing teams, Mosler is able to continuously enhance their cars' total performance with much success. Currently the Mosler car is dominating the British GT Series and is the top choice amongst teams competing in European and Australia GT Series.
