This weekend's Intercontinental Rally Challenge event will see crews take on the slippery asphalt of the Oviedo region as the series gathers for its ninth round of the year at Spain's Rally Principe de Asturias.
The rally takes place this Friday and Saturday with nine stages on Day One followed by six more on Day Two, offering 250 kilometres of competition to the IRC stars.
Peugeot will be well-represented on this Spanish round with the Peugeot Belgium-Luxemburg duo of Nicolas Vouilloz and Freddy Loix at the controls of their 207 S2000s; reigning IRC champion Vouilloz finished second on this event last year, while Loix took third place.
Driving another Kronos Racing-Prepared 207, current series leader Kris Meeke will be defending the Peugeot UK colours this weekend. Additional same-make cars will be racing with European Rally Championship regulars Michal Solowow and Corrado Fontana at the controls.
Over at the Abarth camp, last year's winner Giandomencio Basso will attempt to add his name to the victory list once again. Local driver Miguel Fuster will be driving another Grande Punto S2000.
Skoda Motorsport is making the trip to Spain with only one car, with Jan Kopecky behind the wheel of the single works Fabia Super 2000. However two other Skoda cars appear on the entry list for Alberto Hevia and Julien Maurin.
Guy Wilks will be competing with his Proton Satria Neo S2000 while Toni Gardemeister makes his return aboard an Opel Corsa OPC Super 2000.
The gap at the top of the drivers' standings is close with only three points separating Kris Meeke from Jan Kopecky. Giandomenico Basso and Nicolas Vouilloz are currently tied in third position, a dozen points further behind. Including Spain, three rounds remain on the IRC calendar.
