Withdraw Proton's national car status

It's brave of Toyota to publicly recall their Toyota cars worldwide when none of the users complained. They also absorbing all costs of replacement. Well done, Toyota for your bold move to recall. There's what I call 'branding'

If you ask any Proton user if there's any defects in the production or products used to manufacture Protons, tons of users will complain. Take, for example, the 'glue' for the body joints, it is a total defect and everyone can see the roofs, bonnet etc joints heavily corroded.

Is this the Malaysian way of saying that we have a high percentage of local contents and we should be proud of our national car?

Maybe we should give national car status to Naza or Perodua instead of Proton. It's a big disgrace and loss to Malaysia. Let's not compare Proton with the major car manufacturers but just match the R&D and quality control with Perodua.

Proton has so much more defects and the engine isn't as fuel-efficient when compared to any Perodua car. They are using the same old methodologies in their engine for the last 30 years without any modification.

Why can't we use the full technology of Lotus which is owned by Proton? We have the best technology and cars in Lotus and the worst Proton cars in Malaysia.

Is Proton brave enough to publicly recall their cars and bear the cost of replacement? There are so many faulty defects in most of the models and its has been trial and error production from day one.

The manufacturer and vendors must bear the cost of the recall. The government has always subsidised Proton so that it can be our national car at the expense of the taxpayers. It's high time Proton stand on its own two feet and improve their R&D and quality control and work closely with the local vendors.

How long can the rakyat just 'close one eye' to the defects just because they are a paying a cheap price for Proton models? There must be a stop to the government subsidies, incentives or protection. Be brave and admit your mistakes, have a recall now.
