257 HP Lotus Exige Scura: Only 35 units to be made!

UK-based and Proton-owned sports car maker Lotus has announced a limited edition Exige Scura that will be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show this week. With only 35 units planned, the Scura is treated to a matt black and carbon fiber theme. The exterior is finished with high gloss ‘Phantom Black’ triple stripes that run the length of the car and features a carbon fiber front splitter, oil cooler inlet vanes, side airscoops and rear spoiler.

The interior is mostly finished with carbon fiber. The lightweight material was used on the seats and centre console while the handbrake and gear knob have a special anodized treatment which leaves the metal with an anthracite colour finish. The Scura is powered by a supercharged 1.8 liter, Toyota-sourced engine with a VVTL-i variable cam system that can output 257HP at 8,000 revs and 236Nm of torque at 6,000 revs. The powerplant is mated to a lightweight C64 6-speed transmission. Top speed is rated at 245 km/h and 0 – 100 km/h takes 4.1 seconds. Combined cycle fuel consumption is figured at 8.5 l/100km.

Suspension wise, the Scura features Ohlins 2 way adjustable dampers and Eibach Springs with variable height spring platforms. The sports car also comes with sticky Yokohama A048 LTS tires. The 925-kg Exige also has a launch control function (which allows wheel-spin until 10 km/h to help reduce the stresses to the drivetrain) and a traction control system

Pricing starts from £45,000 in the UK and orders can be accepted from October 21st in Europe, South Korea, Australia, South Africa, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia. In Japan the Exige Scura is called the Exige Stealth – sounds better?
