LM24 - Peugeot Sport - Le MansAs the clock showed 8:30am local time the green flag was waved and the two Corvettes were the first cars to get out. The start of the warm-up session also meant the start of problems for some of the teams.

Soheil Ayari spun his Oreca 01 AIM almost immediately after coming on the track, while the KSM Lola Mazda didn’t even make it to the track after it stalled in the pitlane with smoke coming from the back. The #3 Audi also left the pit lane with smoke, though it didn’t seem to bother Dumas too much.

Team mate Tom Kristensen wasn’t a happy chap this session. The Dane went straight at the Dunlop chicane on his outlap and returned to the pit immediately after.

Peugeot however did not have any issues and at one third of the session they top three was an all-French affair with Montagny having set the fastest lap time of them all.

Halfway through the session Kristensen returned to the track after a long period of the mechanics working on the Audi R15 TDI. Team mate Marco Werner spun his car at the Ford Chicane trying to avoid the Advanced Engineering Team Seattle Ferrari F430, with Dempsey also spinning a couple of meters further in the chicane.

RML had its share of bad luck in the session as well when the #007 Lola Aston Martin collided with the Lola Mazda #25 in the pit lane! Both cars were put back in their boxes with damage visibile to the front of the AMR Lola and to the side of the RML car.

Peugeot improved their lap times in the final 10 minutes of the race with first Lamy posting a 3:27.193 and then Wurz setting a 3:26.793 with only a couple of minutes to go. But it was Franck Montagny who eventually posted the fastest time as he set a 3:26.457.

Tinseau (Pescarolo 01 Judd) and Karthikeyan (Kolles Audi) spun in the final sessions, with the Pescarolo briefly stranded in the gravel trap.

Christophe Tinseau found and Narain Karthikeyan had spins at the end of the session - the Pesca Pesca ending up in the Mulsanne Corner gravel, and the Kolles Audi facing the wrong way at the Dunlop Chicane.

The JLOC Lamborghini and KSM Lola didn’t set a lap this session, while the #83 Risi Ferrari did not go out at all. Spyker suffered a problem that kept the car in the box for almost the entire session, but the team has meanwhile identified and solved the problem.

So after 45 minutes it was a Peugeot 1-2-3, with Audi taking fourth and fifth. The #008 Lola Aston Martin was the best petrol car, finishing in ninth overall. In LMP2 it was Team Essex on top, ahead of the NAVI Team Goh Porsche and the Racing Box Lola.

Corvette Racing took a 1-2 again with the Luc Alphand Aventures #72 completing an all-Corvette result. Felbermayr-Proton was fastest in GT2. The AF Corse Ferrari was second fastest , ahead of the IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche.
